Happy Friday the 13th! Are you superstitious? To me, it is just another great Friday to kick off the weekend. Actually, it’s one of my good friends, Sarah’s, 21st birthday. She was in my dorm suite freshman year of college and we have been rooming together with some of our close friends ever since. Now we all have a house together at school. I love watching friendships grow and I can honestly say that in my close relationship with Sarah, she is a selfless and free-spirited individual.
What kind of qualities do you look for in friendships? Have you ever thought about it? I did not until just now.
When thinking about my friends I understand that we have a lot of the same qualities, but also very different ones too. We all have different majors, likes and interests, styles, and even schedules. Many of these qualities overlap with individuals in the group too. I’ll go to one friend for advice on roommate issues and another to make summer concert plans. Do you do the same in your friend group?
We are all girls that get along with everyone because of our flexible, fun-spirited nature. So what keeps us all so close besides the fact that we go to the same school? I think it is because we all seem to fit well together, like puzzle pieces- we all complement each others’ strengths and weaknesses and all play a special role in our friend group. As a puzzle we rely on one another to be complete and if a piece is missing it does not go unnoticed.
I’ve come to have many great memories, learning experiences, and adventures with these wonderful puzzle pieces. I know that after next year, senior year of college, we all may go our separate ways to chase our dreams, but when we come back together I have no doubt that the puzzle pieces will fall right back into place.

I admire them just being there for me when I need them most, and their honesty! I love it how my best friend is so laid back and happy just hanging out at the house and my former roommate is the opposite, so she gets me to really get out there and enjoy life!
